The year in rates

Four seasons, and what each one really costs

A rate is a season and a minimum stay, not a number on its own. The direct column moves with commission, cancellations and card fees rather than with generosity, which is why it is not a round number.

Out of season

November to February

Short days, long fires, and the best light on the sand of the whole year. One night is enough if one night is what you have.

Shoulder

March to May, and October

Birds on the scar in spring, colour on the links in October. Two nights minimum, because a turnaround costs the same whether you stay one night or three.

High

June to August

The busy weeks. Three nights minimum and we hold no rooms back for late callers.

$204.65

Turn of the year

27 December to 2 January

Dinner every night, included, one sitting. Four nights, and the whole house tends to go to the same people each year.

4

nights minimum

$285.00

through a channel

$238.06

The direct column is not a promotion. It is the break-even discount: the most this house can take off its own rate and still keep at least what a channel booking at the rack rate leaves it, after 17% commission, a 1.8% card fee, the booking engine, the cost of winning the booking, and the share of bookings that cancel. Change any one of those and the column moves, which is why it is not a round number.

Marram

Twelve rooms above the dunes. Dinner at one sitting. Boots by the door.

Small print

Marram is a demonstration property. The house, its rooms, its people, the walks and every rate on this site are invented for the template.
